A lovely song by the Hollies from the "Butterfly Album" 1967. Tony Hicks was singing it.

every man

Just read a lot about Greek mythology, and if I had to pick one of the characters for myself, I'd have to say I'm Pegasus. I'm not a warrior, dragon, god, or demon. I'm just a flying horse, an R2D2, and I'm here for you when I can get to you.

They had Allan Clarke as lead. Difficult to give too many songs to the others when you have a vocalist of that calibre in a band.

Is it just me or does Tony sound a bit like Syd Barrett on this tune?

If you like this listen to Mac Arthur Park by Donna Summer it is equally bizzare.

Thanks for that info realwoman. What a lovely mind to write such a beautiful song without having children himself. He is a lovely person.

Just like most of you have been saying, the same thing happened to me - the Hollies addiction. I heard one song (can't remember which, but I'm thinking now "The Air That I Breathe") and realized they did a bunch of other songs I knew and now I own a bunch of their music and am going to see Graham Nash with CSN in August!

British DJ Jimmy Savile, who oversaw the pop music revolution, said that The Hollies were the band all the other bands (including The Beatles) liked.

I heard that Tony wrote it for his son Paul when he was small

Nice melody...never heard it before today. Interesting to hear someone besides Graham Nash or Alan Clarke singing lead vocal.
