From the archives of a Milwaukee TV station comes this rare and fascinating interview with the Hollies, where they explain why immigration red tape kept them from performing in the Milwaukee area on their first U.S. tour in 1965.

Because many modern pop acts lack class. The Hollies knew who was buttering their bread, and to treat everyone as though they were important. Most pop stars today take their fame for granted, which these guys did not.

I just loved the somewhat level of awkwardness reflected in this interview. Those were the days when artists appeared to be simpler, and more down to earth than now.

I was born and rasied in Milwaukee and I remember the guy interviewing them - Bob Barry. He was the biggest D.J. in Milwaukee on WOKY - A.M. He was so straight laced - this is hilarious when the guys are obviously goofing on him and he just nods. Too funny...oh, and Tony Hicks...y-u-m-m-y......

Amazing how polite and complimentary they are about the immigration officials - quite understandable really, under the circumstances. Very interesting.

Amazing! It must've been a real pain in the behind getting all that legal rigamarole sorted out in order to just perform in the U.S. You can easily see the inspiration for Nash's song "Immigration Man" several years later.

That is fantastic - at 1.12 - "so what's gonna happe now" - and Tony looks at Graham with a "yeah big guy, what's the answer to THAT?" look. Excellent.

I must say after watching this a few times-how surreal is it? An interview with The Hollies at Immigration Services lol. It is a testament to their popularity at the time that a new crew took the time to show up and interview them there. :)
