To begin with, the version here might be badly transformed to Youtube, that what it sounds to me. Still it can be a bad production from the beginning. They´ve accepted careless guitar playing and to much noise on the drums. Sounds like a live version actually. Listen to Concert for George with Eric Clapton and everybody, great musicians and great sound!

Just to settle all this endless debating, George himself HATED the Hollies version of his song, and they were annoyed with him for going public with his disdain! Personally, the vocals on this are wonderful - but the general playing sounds a bit slapdash and also not very well arranged. I can see why George was a bit upset.

Graham, he was cocky and not be a very good musician, is another matter, I consider this excellent group, but I never believed in the style of Graham, was ridiculous.

hear that from someone very knowledgeable about "the beatles" to John Lennon, loved this cover, because it sounded, more rock, that the version of themselves. and he was right for me, I like this version much like the beatles. The battery is excellent, and has a strong and natural sound.

i totally agree!!! it's a very ugly cover!! and the stupid Graham Nash said they were "quite critical and said they had made a mistake recording it"... yeah you are fucking right sir Graham... you should not have recorded a version and CRY why your single did not reach the top 20 in the UK!!!

I had to listen a few times, can't believe I've never heard this. Once I got used to this version, I think the vocals are as good as the Beatles version (great harmonies), the rhythm section is great, but the guitar work is pretty weak. The signature lick that Harrison lifted form the Byrds is gone, and the break is a mess around the 1:20 mark.

Some fine drumming from Bobby Elliot. Best thing on the record IMO. I love the Hollies but this really does feel as if it were recorded in a hurry and mixed in a rush too. Lots of rough edges.
