Might be more accurate to say Paul Butterfield's One More Heartache, as this version is much closer to his rather than Gaye's. And then it was written by members of the Miracles, rather than Gaye.

The1st cover I heard of this great song was the Paul Butterfield one & that was nearly 40 years ago. This Hippos version (25 yrs ago) is so damn good,& just grows on you the more you hear it.Just the Bass & clapping intro is hypnotic & Ace on drums & John on bass really drive the bus along .....guitar, sax & keyboards blend ....almost faultless ! Yeah I'm bald & John Power played @ my 21st blah blah -but I'm not biased.... just love good Aussie pub bands...(agree with all comments below also)

Love this rendition of a fantastic, underrated song written by Smokey, Marv Tarplin, Bobby Rogers, and Pete Moore...the Miracles (ALL OF THEM) were fantastic song writers...responsible for a large number of hit songs written for other artists, not just the Miracles!
