There are so many bands and groups out there that you have to have something to expose you to new music and act as a filter. Relying *only* on TV is bad, but is itself not a bad source. I listen to a public radio station that plays all kinds of music, which is where I discover lots of music. I listen to Pandora, another source of exposure. I also have picked up songs from video games, like Borderlands. Good music should be rewarded, regardless of where you heard it.

Good song, reminds me of The Impressions. A really disgusting and silly video. Apparently someone thought the song wasn't good enough to stand on it's own. Now, the video, not the song, will get all the chatter. Too bad, a good song will get lost in the discussion.
