The Hearbeats with their perfect harmony are at the top of the early R&B groups in the genre which was, many years later, called "doo wop." The term didn't exist back then. It was coined much later. There are many differing opinions as to what is "doo wop" and what isn't. Just suffice to say, you'll know it when you hear it. And when you hear it, you love it.

One of my favorites by The Heartbeats, even though it came in their later years. This version, though, sounds like a different studio take than the one I have in my collection on Guyden. A few RPMs slower than the one I have and there are a couple of variations in Shep's phrasing. This is still a nice version, though.

The first time I heard this song, it was being played by "Butterball Tortorelli," on one of Philly's old hits stations and I said to myself, 'wow!' So off I went downtown to the record store 'The Sound Of Market Street' on 11th Street, between Chestnut & Market and lo and behold, my main man had it for me on a Heartbeats cd. I am cherishing this nugget for life. Baaaaaaad!!!!

Reminds me of high school in Baltimore and then getting out of the navy. She was gone and a new girl now was my lady!!!!!!! But I still wonder about her??
