The thing is, I can't take Shane West seriously as a punk rocker, but I like him better as a live performer than Darby. At least he sings with the tempo, and into the microphone for that matter, and he doesn't always look like he's gonna puke and die on stage. I like the studio songs with Darby better than Shane though.

Scab singer or not, Shane NAILED Darby. And it's a bonus that he's coherent rather than screwed up on drugs. Plus, the three actual musicians of the band were what ultimately made the band. Don Bolles playing those beats again? Hell yes! Saw the "reunited" Germs live in 2009, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've seen thousands of shows.

or you could look at it this way and maybe realize that they are only trying to have fun. and plus its people like shane west who grew up listening to Punk and wanted it to live on rather than fade away. what he's doing is a good thing no matter how you spin it. sure the original Germs died with Darby but its people like Shane who want the music to live on and just think of all the kids (such as myself) who were never fortunate enough to see the germs live but now we can cuz he stepped up
