Metal has spent a lot of time criticizing the treatment of native americans, the holocaust, vietnam, and countless other atrocities. Awful shit in the middle east just happens to be in the spotlight for now, so it's natural it would become a popular topic. Don't worry though, there are still plenty of bands who are focused on how America is over there brutalizing civilians like fucking tyrants, lest we forget that both of their gods are used for evil.
