I had forgotten they had murdered this, it sounds even worse now than 50 years ago. How anyone could think this was better than the Tops is incomprehensible. Probably people out there who thought Squilla did the best version of 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin''.

Pieseň vyvolala napätie medzi spoločnosťami Motown a EMI, pretože porušila dohodu,že EMI nemala vydávať cover verzie singlov Motownu,keďže v UK zastupovala záujmy tejto spoločnosti. Skupina sa mihla vo filme Ferry Cross The Mersey a zahrala pieseň I Love You Too

salshaker64@ Whites, Brits or USA, would not have any concept of cool if not for black culture, musicians especially. These Brits did their watered down, sanitized version of black music.

Even though it is a very good version, it shows the group at a creative confusion. You cant just do beat/rock'n'roll music one day, then soul the next. This is the reason very few bands survived the "invasion" era....

The Four Tops are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Where are the "Fourmost"...for trying to copy their name and their song ? Case Closed.

Martin Brady

Epstein managed this group.

Do you even know what the word means? Both groups covered a song from the same genre (R&B Motown), with the fourmost doing an almost exact copy of the four tops version. Granted that the fourmost came from the Merseybeat genre and the fourtops from Motown, but you can't deny that the fourmost's copy is in the vein the motown genre.

The backing is fine, but the lead singer is no match for the Four Tops guy. I think I danced to these guys playing live at Balloch, near lLoch Lomond in 1965, but I'm not sure. ( Not for the usual 60's reason " If you can remember them you weren't there" , but because they booked a lot of good groups whose careers were just starting to slide downhill.

The FOUR TOPS would blow these guys off of ANY STAGE...ANYWHERE. All these guys did was copy The Four Tops' record.(and even their name). The Tops had FAR MORE hits , in Britain and in the U.S., then these guys EVER did .

@FabFM You are right about the production on this record, it is a bit patchy I think. That is what I would find the fault with, not the band. I think the poignancy of this song is still captured here, just not so well produced.

Phew, that made me jump there when poor old Mike nearly went flying! I dont recall seeing this on RSG. The man had good balance! RIP big fella, you were terrific!

I loved the Fourmost, I do think that the Four Tops version of this song is the best, but it is good to have different versions, because some stations wont play certain artists so you can get to hear a great song sung by somebody else. Have any of you heard the Supremes version from their 1966 album of mainly covers, Supremes A Go Go? I think it is here on YouTube.

@leoconde What ? I didn't know that the lead singer died so long ago. I like the British performers from the '60's and I learn something new every day !
