Dog Problems version

I do not own this song, and all rights go to The Format

-

Nico, come back home

Show me that you care

And love's not just a flare on my sleeve

Sleep well, I pray that cardboard boxes,

Set the perfect stage.

'Cause wood grain makes all man made things seem so out of date

Life is not a play, it's what we

Make of the people we love.

(Chorus)

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch

Oh why, why, why, why, oh, why

Are you quick to kiss?

She bites at blades and leaves

God damn you shrubbery

Well I'm sick of vanity plays

Should we move to the UK?

'Cause life here in the states has escaped

All the people above us.

What we make of those people we love

(Chorus)

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch

Oh why, why, why, why, why

Are you quick to kiss?

Baby, maybe I spoke too soon

I'll touch you once you make the first move

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch I watch her as she runs

My mother jumps the gun

She puts her in her arms

That is just like my mom

Never lets go, never lets me grow old

I wanna pay her back

But love is nothing you can tax

My family's not rich by any means

But I feel we won the lottery, that day

The rock swallowed the girl

And I cried as cameras caught my eyes

My tears turned into butterflies

They fly away as caskets close

A new day comes you'll wake unfold

Smile when you feel the sunlight

You feel the sunlight

You feel the sunlight

You feel the sunlight

(Chorus)

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch

Oh why, why, why, why, why

Are you quick to kiss?

Baby, maybe I spoke too soon

I'll touch you once you make the first move

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch, oh

Snails see the benefits

The beauty in every inch

Be sure to remember....Though the production on "Some Nights" halves the albums overall quality, it's still brilliant. Also, Nate sings through a vocoder, not an auto tune system.

I like the acoustic so much better ;)

With the argument below there is one problem with a lot of what they are arguing at. A big problem with the music industry is we put too much blam on the bands/artists for bad song/albums or whatever . When in this case it was the producer (Jeff Bhasker) who suggested that fun. Change their style. ( and if you look at who he worked with you can see a big problem) so it's just something to think about

Oh my GOD, let it go already. I'm starting to think you're actually Nate Ruess.

If he doesn't need it, why do you have such a problem with it? He can sing here, he sings on Some Nights and if he wants to use auto tune (which, buy the way, the auto tune sounds good) he can. Also, before you start judging "mindless singalong youth anthems" research where they came from. Since obviously you are only pointing toward "We Are Young" which is not even about being young and infinite or whatever is popular, you don't really have a clue on what you're talking about right now.

Why do we have to diss other types of music to enjoy something this phenomenal. Clearly we are here because we share a certain taste and enjoy a certain style, but there are plenty of people who listen to the music that you and I dub "crap". Tearing down a different style of music doesn't make this awesome song even awesome-er, just like listening to popular music doesn't make this song worse.

Guys, can we just PLEASE stop arguing and settle on the fact that we all agree this song is amazing?

Uh, yeah it IS his fault. It's his fault for jumping on a moneymaking bandwagon and using an "instrument" whose sole purpose is to cover up the fact that someone has a shitty voice! Nate doesn't need it. Just like he doesn't need to start writing mindless, singalong "youth anthems", which is also what he started doing. Get a clue.

So you must've really hated when The Format started to use drums...? Autotune is an instrument when used by Nate Ruess, like drums are instruments for Jack Antonoff. For Kanye West and Lil' Wayne, they're moneymakers. Nate Ruess is experimenting, Kanye and Lil' Wayne are clueless and revert to it. If Nate chooses to use it, let him use it. Sorry that Lil' Wayne uses it, too. That's not his fault.

"He uses autotune as an instrument". Wow. Just...wow. You're using the same ignorant argument that all of his other fanboys and fangirls are using. You really don't see it, do you? He jumps on a trend that is massively popular in the mainstream music industry right at the time that he starts to get famous, and you don't see that as selling out? Oh, he just happened to use it as an instrument, huh? When the only people who use it are mainstream douchebags like Kanye West and Lil' Wayne. Idiot.

He uses autotune as an instrument, Just Give Me a Reason is AWESOME, Ke$ha took the song from Nate after he sold it to her (he only wrote the chorus which is obviously the best part of the song) and he's on TV now opening an awards ceremony. They (Fun.) also played the Grammys and many others, too, gaining the recognition they finally deserve. And I really don't understand this conversation if you think that Nate is like the Jonas Brothers. You're obviously kind of confused or something....

Wow, you must really love Nate. You completely wash over all the ways in which he has sold out. The autotune, the big anthemic choruses, the collaborating with Pink and Kesha, the opening of the MTV awards...and yes it is a disgrace that I mentioned the Jonas Brothers. It's a disgrace that Nate sucks so bad now that he reminds me of them.

"How do you cry with inanimate eyes? You're never gonna smile with the way that you're wired." "I got the call as soon as the day hit night, as soon as the headlights lit up the west side; I stopped the car and came outside because I know that tone, I remember the first time we wished upon parallel lines waiting for a friend to call and say they're still alive." "Like starlight crashing through the roof we'll lose our feathers; yes, I know it hurts at first but it gets better." C'mon, now.
