@DingChavez959 The song is based on the original vehemently anti-Jacobite song, which Burns watered down, and is specifically about the 45 Rising which was predominantly Scottish. The song is Scottish and saying it isn't is like saying a British WWII song is American because they also fought the Germans etc. Fair do if the 'Irish Folk' refers to the band and the music they normally play but if it isn't qualified by stating that this is in fact a Scots song then it is going to get picked up on.

The modern version of this song was written by Robert Burns.

@segano1 uh, Jacobites were as much Irish as Scottish. There's no "origin". It was just a name given to people who wanted the Stuarts back on the throne of Ireland, England and Scotland. And for those complaining about the song being Scottish the "Irish Folk" in the title refers to the band being an Irish folk band. Its on all his upload no matter the song.

@segano1 Who knows but it is amazing how much Scottish music is on youtube with people claiming it is Irish. But suggesting that the works of Robert Burns is Irish does kind of beat all records :-)

@BouffinCrevis There were English Jacobites too. All beside the point. The song is thoroughly Scottish and is not actually written from a Jacobite view point anyway. The original song is vehemently anti-Jacobite. This version was written by Burns and he toned it down somewhat.

This must've been uploaded by some Yankee American or a Plastic.

@BouffinCrevis Jacobites were Scottish predominantly and of Scottish origin, they had a bit of support from a few Irish and some English too who wanted the Stuarts restoration.

@halifaxtanning No not really, Scots are a bit distinctly different from the softer Irish style.

@halifaxtanning Still doesn't make it Irish though. The song is Scottish and the words are by Robert Burns.

Scottish/ Irish share pretty much the same folk tradition, the melodies are similar, the instruments etc.

Well done, I rather enjoyed the flute opening, it's kinda like the calm before a sudden storm.
