The Specials, Madness, Selecter, Mr Review, Bad Manners, The English Beat, The Butlers, The Bodysnatchers, The Pioneers etc is al second wave. I'm a fan of first and third wave. Sure I like some 2-tone but a lot of it just doesnt cut it compared to the other waves (I prefer the punk rock during that time). Third wave had such energy or a whole new chill/partymode ska style, kind of looking back to the first wave and new (better imho) fusions. But you didnt ask for my opinion so enjoy the 2-tone

AAAHhhhhhh man I remember hearing this at Skatepark of Tampa (SPoT) one night (I live in Tampa), in their tiny little venue out back, believe it's called Transitions...... Transitions Art Gallery, that's it. I'd heard their album Fear Everything before, and I loved them sooooo much after that album, but then seeing them, meeting them, hanging out with them, man. Those guys are amazing guys, great musicians, and truly good people who love their fans. Don't expect to see them sell out...ever. Lol

but 1st wave of ska is not like reggae.. reggae is like first wave of ska! the skatalites are the fathers of both! ska & reggae... here in México, people say that they are "traditional ska" but for me that's the same thing that saying pink floyd, the rolling stones, the doors, etc, are "classic rock" they r not classic, they are the real rock&roll music! same thing for the skatalites, they r the real ska music... also, they play good music! not like some called "musicians" today!

@skamaster48 well i decided i'd actually look into it, and yes indeed skacore has been around since before the 2000's. but the earliest i can find it to date back is somewhere in the 90's... i wouldn't exactly call that "way before". but if i'm wrong, please tell me where i am.

the 2nd wave was bands like English Beat and The Specials. it was big in the UK and was also called '2 tone' ive always been a much bigger fan of the 3rd wave though

this is probably a dumb question but 1st wave of ska is like reggae and 3rd wave is right now, right? so what was 2nd wave of ska? i started listening to ska recently and it is now all i listen to so i just wanted to know more about it.

i wouldnt say NOTHING happened in the 2000's. skacore happened. and as for the 3rd wave, it definately died down to some extent, but we still had streetlight manifesto, big d, even catch 22 had some good stuff, up untill their last piece of shit album.
