Honestly I want to know what you're on about. Nothing was said about how people were introduced to the music, only the fact that you can't really call yourself a fan of anything if you're only sure of liking one small part of the whole. In that case you're a fan of that one small part, in this case the one song and not the band.

If someone shows express interest in F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. then they are a fan of the song. If they show express interest in the band, then they know more than one song from the band or are looking into knowing more than one song from the band. A fan of The Fall of Troy would have a strong interest in The Fall of Troy, not F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X. There's a difference between a fan of a song, and a fan of a band, you don't seem to realize that. Showing a strong interest in a band actually DOES entail knowing many (at least more than one!) songs from a band, or at least intent to know many, so get that through your thick skull. Showing interest in one song is not showing interest a band.

A fan is a person who has a strong interest in or admiration for a particular art or entertainment form, or famous person. Being a fan doesn't entail knowing every song by an artist. So long as you appreciate it, you're a fan. Perhaps if you took your own advice, you could prevent misunderstandings like these from happening, and seem like less of an imbecile who doesn't know the definition of a fan.
