I thing the mentioning of ELI is a literary reference , I am not sure what story it is from though , any connection with the ELI mentioned in Three Dog Nights "Elis Coming " I wonder . This song was written by Bob Dylan , its on his "John Wesley Harding " album , the Dylan version is kind of better .
