I can relate to some parts of this song, eg. when I was growing up, I resented my brown skin and wished that I was white because of the ignorance and racism that surrounded me when I was younger (thankfully that toxic atmosphere doesn't surround me now and I would like to think that people in my area are slowly becoming less ignorant.) I just don't like some other parts of this song - referring to his daughter as 'another fuckin' mouth to feed' and admitting drunk driving and causing someone to die, yet I've found out Ras Kass has been done for DUI in May 2003 and other times. Didn't he learn from the horror he caused in 1991? Moral of the story is: racism sucks, shitty parenting sucks and drunk drivers fucking suck

F*ck this song gets me everytime. Never have I heard a rap song so honest! He explains so well how his lack of self esteem and his environment growing up contributed to his bad decisions that lead him into a life of seeing everyone around him, including himself lacking a moral compass. Its just his experience and nothing more. At the end when he drops the "coming to terms with myself" bomb it's just the icing on the cake. You rarely heard this kind of raw honesty in rap. Even in the "Golden era".

aren't you like 14? why the fuck are you going on about '96 if you weren't even born yet? you only know what you hear now from '96 kid, which means you know only a percentage of shit that dropped that year & If you weren't alive in '96 then you can't talk like you were & btw Nas's "It Was Written" is BETTER than both of those albums and IS the BEST album of 1996 so go back to Oregan with those bias ass opinions and stop hating on a grown ass man(Nas), which is something your not

Ras Kass mentioning Jay-Z at 4:40 a couple months after Reasonable Doubt dropped. Soul on Ice and Reasonable Doubt were the two best albums of 96.
