The first English version (1958) was by Jill Corey who performed it in the television series *Climax!* and in the musical film *Senior Prom*. It was the first recording for the Everly Brothers outside Nashville, in New York. And it is also one of the first popsongs to use a string section (8 violins and 1 cello).The American actor James Best (Sheriff Rosco P Coltrane in *Dukes of Hazzard*) was a cousin of the Everly Brothers.
