Mixing is terrible. Muddy and muffled. I'd like to hear a remastered version

Ol' 55 is an excellent song, and one I first heard preformed by the Eagles on their album One The Border. I recently found out it was originally done by Tom Waits, and I can't decide which one I like better. Might have to side with the Tom Waits, as much as I love the Eagles. I'm not sure.Which one is your favorite, and why? Do tell~Tom Waits Ol '55 The Eagles - Ol' 55

I had never heard Tom Waits' version but immediately played it having read these reviews. I have to say his original is great; raw, deep and soulful. I'm loving it but still rate the Eagles version which is worthy in its own right. Al Perkins pedal steel guitar and those great harmonies - wow.

Glenn Frey on Tom Waits feelings about their cover version: "Tom Wasn't too crazy about our version, then he got his check..."I happen to like it, love their LIVE version even better!

Ella, thank you so much for the note about Al Perkins on the pedal steel - I've always wondered. Such a beautiful song. :-)

Waits used to call the Eagles "the Teflon Cowboys". That's what he thought of their rendition.

God this version is terrible.. Its kinda like tom doing hotel California.. Just sounds wrong.. Then again I think tom could do hotel California with his own strange twist and maybe make it sound decent lol

Whether sung by Frey & Henley, Waits or Sarah McLachlan it's a fine song - each cut has it's own special twist; it's a matter of taste!
