Beautiful song and a legendary singer, and band of musicians who shaped the folk scene and enriched our music and culture & identity. My little sister does a powerful version of this song and being the proud brother it brings tears to my eyes. I'm also a big fan of Phil Coulter, his interpretations and his own pieces are a fantastic celebration of Celtic music. One of his most beautiful songs written for his own son "Scorn not his simplicity" a haunting loving ballad, Kelly only sang on special occasions due to the personal nature of the origins of the song. …..and despite it not worthy of having a place amidst discussion of this beautiful soulful music, Thatcher lived to become the best recruiting officer the IRA ever had! Everyone & everything has a purpose ….
