I have been married for 34yrs. Im 56yrs. old and grew up with the Doobies. This song will be played when I pass on in dedication to my wife Chrystal, she saved my life. Great tribute to her and all she has done for me....

The Doobies were on the radio all the time when I was a young child in the '70's, and I loved their music from then on. "South City Midnight Lady" didn't have any particular meaning for me until 1992, when I met a girl named Allison. No, it didn't work out. I only play this song when I can be alone and afford to get a little emotional.

It was the late '60s. I was a young husband. A bunch of us went to Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City. It was an old dust bowl in the summer heat. We spread a blanket on the field to hear Chicago and the Doobie Brothers. Those were great days of our youth I'll never forget. They tore the place down soon after but the memories remain.

You pressed thumbs up because this song reminds you of a place and time being with someone you loved or still do! And that's just fine!

First heard this album when I was 18 and living in Paris. Blew me away. The musicianship is outstanding and the songs are superb. But South City will always haunt me the sound track to my first real love............................sob.
