Finally, after 40 years, I get to listen to this beautiful little song complete.I heard only the beginning's few seconds from a tv commercial when I was a kid. Never knew the title or performer and been looking for it since, until today.Thank you so much for posting it.

I think you mean me on "thank you you " Slack Key means drop tune your guitar. Play a C major chord and use C as a reference chord. I cannot remember the note of each string; too confusing. but when you capo the 2nd fret, it will be on the mark with a stantard C major on a second guitar. Joni Mitchell can explain an easier system. Check out her tunings. Tuning up to a chord, such as a D will bust your strings; google a tuner on your PC.

This is a great tune. Doc and Merle Watson used this technique. Merle's Guitar would play the lower harmony and Doc woul Play in standard tuning. I drop tune (slack key style) to an open C major, capo on the second or third fret while my sister played standard tuning. Or we would play High strung guitar ( get a twelve string guitar set and put the high strings on low E A D then normal G B E. Sounds beautiful. almost like a stereo effect.
