This was kind of a comeback for the Doobies....they had been gone for awhile....and now they were back with Tom Johnston....

I was at this show many years ago at the now defunct Poplar Creek outside of Chicago. They said they would be taping the performance for a music video and did the song twice. The audience was very loud and thats why you see Ton Johnson clap for the crowd at the end.

I disagree, but I see where you come from!!

Damn...I came in here with decent hope...but they really butchered that one. They left out everything that made the original so amazing. The cool guitar lead, that hard beat, the soul. They watered it down and now I'm sad :/

"She Was Born with a little Soul" is "Sweet Maxine" - search for it, it's there!

I've been a Doobies fan for a LONG time and finally saw them last year...one of the best concerts that I've seen, even sitting in the rain. :)

You're so right! Both the Doobie Brothers and Grand Funk Railroad should have been inducted into the RnRHOF at the first induction ceremony. Shame on them! Go see the Doobies while they're still performing and enjoy their real music.

I have just listened to three songs by The Doobie Brothers (Long Train Running, South Of The Border and Need A Little Taste Of Love) and I've really become a fan. Its time to buy all of their albums and have a night in

Is that a lilliputter on 3:35 or is one of the band's members' daughters?

Amazing band! They have been my favorite since I first heard them in 1972.

@jeanette4ful Yep, it sure is an Isley Brothers song. They sure could make outstanding music, and the Doobies paid awesome tribute to them with this cover.

I just wish that guitar solo was longer.

Bland? Yeah, about as bland as Lena Kansbod and Kathy Ireland! This Isley Brothers' original is one of the best R&B numbers of all time. The Doobie Brothers should have been placed in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame the day it opened, and the Isleys success speaks for itself.

I did a little research on this song. I cant believe it did not make the top 40. Another song from this album did. "The Doctor" charted at #9 in '89. The album was "Cycles". I personally think this is a better track.
