I'm probably the only person here that knows chaos control as a song and a reference to sonic adventure 2

Could you keep your "Jesus isn't real" comments to a video where people care? You may not think you're trolling, but that is exactly what you're doing when you use comment space on a Christian music video to point out that you're anti-Christian.

In my dream, i saw a black hole, in school, I was feeling overwhemled, so I brought it to my right hand, and felt christ consiousness.

@VulgarIniquities But like Paul, I'm not at all saying this means we should just sin all we want. The believer's desire should be to become holy, as Christ lived. All I'm saying is any time we slip there's grace, and it doesn't matter how often or whether we fall into the same stuff every time. There's always grace, and the more we learn to trust in grace, the less we will find ourselves sinning.

@VulgarIniquities Jesus was once asked "If my brother sins against me, then asks forgiveness, then sins against me again, and once again asks forgiveness, and so on and so forth, how many times should I forgive him? Seven times?" And Jesus replied, "No! Seventy times seven!" I don't believe he meant literally 490 times and after that, no more forgiveness. He meant we should forgive liberally. He wouldn't tell his disciples to do something he himself does not also do.

@apollothemighty but if you ask forgiveness and do it again, then its as if you never asked forgiveness

So, in my view, you needn't choose between God and rock, nor between God and pleasure. And even if we have a strong urge to do something explicitly warned against, like adultery, and give into it, there's this thing called grace. It's forgiven before the asker even asks. That was the deal when you first signed on, and nothing has changed. That, to me, is as essential to Christianity as love of the neighbor and care for the needy.

Those who say music of any kind is bad can't form a logically coherent argument against its moral value by drawing on religious texts as the premises from which to argue. This also happens to be the case with alcohol, cannabis, and masturbation. A thing is bad if it is bad for you. Some things are only bad if they are taken to an excess, at which point they become deleterious. But in moderation, the aforementioned things are healthy and can even be good for life and health.

Interesting thread, guys. I am Christian and I regularly listen to good music, and very rarely listen to "Christian" music, and this conflicts with my religious views in no way. There are certain strains of Christianity that interpret religious texts in a very strict and ascetic way, but this needn't be the case. Having studied Christian texts thoroughly I've concluded that Christianity is, in fact, not all about rules against everything fun. In fact, it's for most things that are fun.

@trizoultro Well put. I agree 100%. Some over the top peers I had made a point to try and give me hell about listening to "non christian" music when I was in high school. Didnt agree with it then, dont agree with it now, and not a christian now.

@thelostgetfound951 I don't really consider myself Christian anymore. but I still like to read some of the 20something geared Christian magazines. You should look into Relevant Magazine. There are interesting articles about music and our culture. One thing I never really understood when I was hardcore Christian, why do I have to sacrifice my good music? Reading Relevant I realized there were others who thought this way. It's important to be aware of what's going on outside the Christian circle.
