Not enough Dillards on YouTube. 13th song from 1968's Wheatstraw Suite album. Nevermind all that Sweetheart of the Rodeo, Gram Parsons nonsense - listen to the Dillards!

The intro to this must be an affectionate dig at Simon & Garfunkel's (somewhat pretentious) '7 O'Clock News/Silent Night' from *Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme*. While Simon & Garfunkel juxtaposed the music with a sombre news bulletin addressing civil rights and the Vietnam War, the Dillards feature a 'Dent County snake and tick market report'!

I had this record, plus Copperfields. Wow, what memories, haven't heard this song in forty years, not since I sang it at an open mike at a cafe in Mt. Tam, California. I could even sing along with it just now, all this time later. Neat!

Gram Parson nonsense! Are you serious? He did as much as anyone to bring country music to the mainstream, and he was great friends with the Dillard's along with that other ex Byrd Gene Clarke who recorded with Doug, but you probably think that's nonsense also. I don't understand people being negative about something as wonderful as music, whether it be The Dillards or The Byrds. Gram was sincere in his deep love of country music, and his conviction never strayed far. Your loss...

Thanks for uploading this complete selection. My favorite Dillards tune and only complete with Dent County Snake and Tick . . . . along with a chorus of I'll Fly Away.
