Jay Dee Maness is the pedal-steel player. His resume is equal to anyone else in this band-- no disrespect to any other player. I think his first recordings were with Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Correct me if I am wrong.

this is not a ordinary band, some of these guys are part of a full circle between rock and roll and western country. If anyone has ever heard of the Byrds , Emmy Lou Harris, or Gram Parsons

This was the band at 14 years of age that I looked up to. They were simply fantastic. I discovered them at Grandma's when she would consistenltly have country radio blarin'. At the time and even moreso now Alabama, George Strait, Randy Travis, Oak Ridge Boys etc. had nothing on DRB!!!

this is one of my favorite songs of all time. I remember me and my dad planned our whole night when they were on austin city limits. he let me stay up late and everything. :-) i have since had to buy their albums a few times over cause all of us kids keep takin his desert rose cd's. that and we wore a cassette of theirs out! haha- they're just too good :-) i love how they watch each other play, they respect each other's talent that's awesome.

Not only were these guys great singers, but they were the best at playing their own instruments. notice how John can make his guitar talk...pure brilliance

So called Country Music Groups nowdays cant hold a candle to these guys. The late 80s-late 90s some of the very best country music came out, Most so called country singers cant sing to save their lives and dress like thugs and sluts
