Artist: The Dear Hunter

Song: His Hands Matched His Tongue

Album: Act I.: The Lake South, The River North

Lyrics:

A long walk home, riddled with regret

Uncommonly comfortable, but still I believe

That in time I think I'll see just what's been weighing down on me

An unearthy void collapsed, exposing what was trapped

To release this serendipitous discern

The smell of smoke, the evening sky was proof

Belated conversation saturate anticipation for the answers that simply won't come

But not I, I won't ask

Forget my place amongst the grass

The leaves and the trees remember me

ANd in my naivety it might be seen

the pale has leaks and even if

you put all your water into it

you end up with nothing left to drink

The well has gone dry and I with it

Oh, someday she'll be gone (x4)

(We'll still have a song to sing)

Sing softly, bring me to the lake

Sing softly, sing me to the lake

Because this song...and every song by this band...is too beautiful for words. I think we're all just speechless.

Can we please just appreciate the music without being snobby about it?

This is one of those songs that is truly artful in execution. The emotion that this song invokes makes it a true masterpiece. It's sublimely melancholy. The Dear Hunter revolutionizes music with every one of their songs.

Depression, longing for something more. Not out of other people, but out of oneself. Recognition of ones lacking, unsure of how to overcome it. Hopelessly wishing you could be better than you are. That's what this song means to me. Or maybe I'm just projecting my feelings onto it.

actually pretty easy to answer...profit and advertising haha. they make a lot of their money by the companies and putting out what people want to hear. most people don't want music to make them think or feel anything other than goodness. So its no surprise those artists are popular, versus an artist like TDH which is harder to find. It's just a different kind of want and experience.

Such a beautiful song. Saw these guys a couple years ago in St. Louis and fell in love instantly. Wish I could see them again someday.
