David Clark was a genius, he kept the catalog. He knew early on how to play the music business, ended up being a producer himself.

Well, Twist and Shout is a rock and roll record, but it starts rather slow tempo and builds up. But this DC5 song comes at you like a pile driver from the very start and never stops. It also has a much fuller sound than Twist, it is almost a "wall of sound" like Spector had, but without the strings. Twist and Shout is a much thinner sound, based on George's guitar. No offense to the Beatles, but I think the DC5 topped them with this record.

This record is a thumping rock and roll stomper of vintage proportions. I like the Beatles, but did they ever have any song that steamrolls and roars along at high speed like this gem??? A very under-rated band.

Another backing track performance..... all the other bands of the sixties I can find live performances but never the DC5.

I've always wanted to know who 'the people' were and why were they always trying to break up happy, young couples ? So many early 60s tunes singing about these 'people' - It was an outrage !! WHO WERE THESE PEOPLE ???

The thing about DC5 is Dave Clark's refusal to release digital music for so very long. I cannot imagine why that is? Yes, they lip synced a LOT back then, but there were acts like Dusty Springfield who preferred to do her spots live, and she usually got her way.

Why is dick clark so bad at lip-syncing compared to the others? Lol

Great tune, nice lip synched performance; which was the norm of the era.I still like the instrumental makeup of this band; sax, keyboard, guitar, bass and percussion, and vocals by a bluesy Mike Smith. No-they didn't evolve into cultural icons (Beatles/Stones) but-were substantially better musicians (Smith in particular) than their detractors will admit.

Dave never let them play live on television. You gotta wonder why.
