This was done for a bbc kid Jensen session on Nov 1 1982, so for all who were wondering it is close to Japanese whispers-era cure, great track, very minimalist

Golden midnight taking us across the water (line...sounds vaguely like 'holy love sing we're falling close in every other') As dawn breaks i wonder Sun's growing cold Ours is not to wonder To never grow old To never grow old Oh ariel i (it?) will always feel right out here (nearly unintelligible line) Sister & brother Never loved each other like this (line) And never fall You never fall Ariel

A different kind of love than that which sisters and brothers have. You don't have a sibling of the opposite sex, or can't imagine?

Research a little bit about Byron's half-sister, Augusta Maria Byron, later Augusta Maria Leigh (26 January 1783 – 12 October 1851). And finally this is the version from BBC Sessions, played on October 24 1982. The version at The Top Deluxe Edition is rough demo from Robert Smith, made in August 1982. Indeed, this is also for me the most brilliant unreleased song by The Cure!

I hear all of the great poets in Robert's songs. Art unhinged, uncensored is art that lasts forever. The incomparable Cure! Love it.

@MrSilentfox22 It was actually inspired by Shelley's life. Ariel was a boat that Lord Byron ordered to built for sailing on some part of Italy's coast; it was initially named Don Juan, but Shelley rebaptised it as Ariel. Selley died when a storm sunk the Ariel.

Percy Shelley could not swim, and even though he had recently been involved in a boating accident in a canal one night in which he was nearly drowned, he and several friends decided to spend the summer of 1822 sailing on the Bay of Lerici. A boat was ordered and built for this purpose -- named Don Juan by Byron, but renamed Ariel by Shelley
