Jamie was just awesome on the Stingray bass during this period. Shame it went downhill after '87 )-:

What a great song, especially the build up towards the end.

Sean O' Neill the music sound scape is not the same as it was back then so to say The Cult would have been the biggest band in the world if they had stuck with this sound is not trur since it would have been lost on this generations music listener since they prefer pop and rap unfortunately

Amazing music. If only The Cult kept with this musical strategy, they might actually have been one of the biggest bands in the world today. Oh well...

the Cult at their best. Its too bad they did not stick with this method. They would have been bigger than U2.

The Cult where soooo original at the early start until 87's Electric album deprecated them. Nigel was definately their best and most innovative drummer, his flips/spins/rundowns & off beats where so simple but the flambouyancy was perfect for Ian & Billys music. Such a shame and waste of talent to be thrown out of the band for drug abuse. Every time I hear their early music from this show I just want to turn the volume up to 11 and throw my self around the room for the whole set.

@troyvslc He spent time in the north of Glasgow too. In fact someone I know remembers returning home to see this rock star with his feet up watching the telly. He had Electric out at the time... Hope you're not as obnoxious a year on.

I've said this before on YT and I'll say it again. Last year I moved house and accidentally threw out my Dreamtime and Lyceum chrome tape. This live album is so underated. Production, the band's timing and rarely ever dropping a note. Astbury's singing was top form. Glad they did definitives of these songs as The Cult.

I think you will find he is actually British, born in Merseyside. He emigrated to Canada in 1973, and moved back to England in 1979......do you think that's where he got his northern accent from :-)

@IAMBOG Yes. That's pretty accurate. The change of direction was very abrupt. I remember a friend seeing them as they left a gig and fans were cheering them and they flashed the V back at the spikey haired types which we thought was a bit odd. The next record was "Electric" which was our explanation I guess. You can't blame them for following the money but that was harsh.

Dreamtime was a stroke of genius. I thought the rot started stting in with She Sells Sanctuary, which I have never thought much of. I have to say, Rain was a good album, but radically different. After that they got very dull, but very huge.

I had a boot leg copy of this on a cassette back in the 80's. It was my traveling tape. Smokin and wandering around Canada. The people in the front were havin a fukin mental time.
