I first heard this song when I bought their first cd in Tallahassee at a record store on north monroe, it had Rogues phone number in it. I called him once and he invited me to some kind of gathering he was nice to me, I did not go. I was a recluse and a very sad, hurt kid. But I can honestly say the songs on this album channeled some of that pain and helped me from probably killing myself. So if you are out there, thank you

It really is. Cruxshadows have a lot of good songs, no doubt, but this one always stuck with me. It's just so good.

I love this band. They are so sweet in person; I should know. I met them myself. Rogue is especially nice. Love his singing voice. So Gothic and beautiful. 3 3

I believe that is what they were saying, I believe they were saying that Rogue didn't look like a "normal" poet, not that there is a clear-cut definition as to how a poet should look and he is yet a brilliant one. I myself am Gothic and a writer and poet, but does my "look" go against the "norm" of what a traditional poet should look like and thus make me a "freak" and good writer?! NO! Why?! For there is not one definitive "look" to describe a poet and/or other no matter how famous they are!!!

@GhostingFish My comment wasn't on the version, I didn't disagree with that, but on what is seemingly an assumption that someone can't be poetic and gothic. Now maybe I read your comment wrong, if so, I apologize, but that's how it came off to me.

@GhostingFish Ah, but the thing is, starting at 5:17, Rogue is reciting a poem by the Master of the Macabre, Edgar Allen Poe, who by today's standards would be considered quite the goth, but also be as poetic as he can be. The poem in question? It's titled Spirits of the Dead. I think it's safe to say that Rogue is greatly inspired by Mr. Poe.

@PsychoKungFu This isn't the version from 'Night Crawls In...' this is from 'Mystery of the Whisper'.

Thanks mate. This song haunts. It's great, a goth anthem that is real. Like when you are doing something normal. I remember running - to this song. Opposing it.

I have been thinking of having the line "a little more unconditional respect was buried here but it never lived and it never died it never came from them it was always inside." written on my tombstone when i pass on.

This song always struck me as having Bauhaus-esque tone to it. That being said, this this is in my top five Crüxshadow songs. Hey, "Birthday" has to go somewhere!
