Two quite unassuming songs from the New Jersey group, The Critters. No chart busters here; just purely engaging musicality which most people of the sixties generation will always remember!

Ok.... I was wondering why this guy looks different from lead singer Don Cicone, and the footage is bad... that's dick Clark's "where the action is" fault! I would be embarrassed as can be lip syncing to someone else's voice... they should have waited for Don to finish his services... you can see these guys were uncomfortable doing that! Also the Crystals and the drifters did the same identity theft voice thing....Milli Vanilli.... never the less this song is BEAUTIFUL and so is Mr Dieingly sad! There is at least one video of Don truly performing this song, plus great black and white footage!

Listen to these songs on a cool windy rainy day when the windowpane is streaked with rain and the trees look lonely outside but inside it's warm, and your heart is warm, nostalgic and happy.

Really they were chartbusters, both Top 10 on WABC in the summer of '66. Younger Girl was #2 for a while,#1 was Sinatra's Strangers in the Night. Saw them in concert April 1967,a band named The Crystal Ship opened, Wish I could find "Georgianne" one of their early singles..Like many young 60s groups, the draft shortened their career.

From left, the Critters are: Chris Darway (piano), Ken Gorka (bass), Jack Decker (drums), and Jim Ryan (guitar). Don Ciccone is the vocalist, but he had been drafted, so Ken lip synched the vocal.

I enjoyed your video, it's good to remind people about great songs like these that can be forgotten because they no longer get play time on the radio. Thanks
