Of course the Sex Pistols were shit. Manufactured by M. Maclaren. Based on The Stooges and The New York Dolls. Ramones came first and were better. But the S.P. influenced/inspired The Clash, Buzzcocks, Siouxsie & Banshees, Raincoats, Magazine, Pogues, Slits, Undertones, Cure, Stone Roses, Wire, Only Ones, Damned, Jam, Scritti Politti, New Model Army, Birthday Party, Nirvana, and, of course, Public Image. i think it comes down to personal preference when it comes to music. its quite common now to discredit the sexpistols of having any impact, even though great punk bands like the clash point to them as an inspiration. some people can listen to the pistols and just cant figure why they were so pivotal to punk. you've got to really listen to the lyrics in some of their stuff. im not trying to say they were more or less important. i'm just saying i love them both... sorry for the ramble12 years ago

the clash embaced all music, not just angry punk, they made a perfect fusion with reggae, and later, joe and the mescalaros got into latin american beats, so nah, they turned the whole punk steriotype on its head, and i`m forever greatful to them for that. joe ,rip15 years ago
