Ah. Heard this at 6 years old. Me old drunken bipolar Dad. Have to say ... it makes as much sense now as it did then - yes, it made sense to me then with the old man cleaning his guns after a few beers during the "cold war". Had 5 neighbor boys that ALL went to Viet Nam - and they all made it home. But I heard this before they made it back and I was worried for them. Hardly knew ya. Go figure.

...Can anybody find the version of this song that opens with the chorus being sung quietly in the background ("guns and drums and drums and guns") ? I've heard quite a few versions (some great) but I still can't find that one and I know it's on Youtube.
