On this day in 1958 {February 22nd} the Chordettes performed "Mr. Sandman" on the ABC-TV program 'Dick Clark's Saturday Night Beechnut Show'... Four years earlier in 1954 it entered Billboard's Top 100 chart and on December 4th, 1954 it peaked at #1 {for 7 weeks} on Billboard's Best Sellers chart... It reached #11 on the U.K. singles chart... Also in 1954 the Four Aces recorded it, their version peaked at #5 in the U.S.A. and #9 in the U.K.
