The Chieftains are an Irish musical group founded in 1962, best known for being one of the first bands to make Irish traditional music popular around the world.

This track was released into the Album "The Chieftains 2" in 1969.

Its name remember the High King of Ireland Brian Boru, who ruled over his country in the early decades of the 11th century. It is one of the oldest tunes in Ireland's traditional repertoire and is still widely played by traditional Irish musicians.

Once the Chieftains toured in Galicia a North region of Spain, there they recorded some galician songs. I bought a CD of that tour and I found one of the song has the rhytmn of the "cueca" the national dance of Chile. Maybe some gallegos as we called them brought their music to Chile and influence our folklor. Why not we descend of the Spaniards whereever they came from Spain. Anyway I love the Chieftains.
