I know this is wiki and cannot be relied upon but they say " Influences musicales- Noir Désir a été influencé par The Saints (reprise de The Chameleon)," musical influences Black Desire was influenced by The Saints (cover of The Chameleon) Which I assume means Noir Désir were influenced by The Saints (and The Saints song Chameleon which Noir Désir covered?)

It's a great song but I don't think the French band were even together when it was released by The Saints in 1978 (but written in 1977!) song is credited to Ed Kuepper and Chris Bailey how could the French Band have written it if they were not formed until the 1980's?.
