The Casinos were an anomaly during the late '60s. Instead of producing psychedelic hard rock, they offer doo-wop, a genre many thought died in the early '60s. This classic song by country music legend John D. Loudermilk was number 6 in 1967. A lot of country artists covered this tune also (Glenn Campbell and Eddy Arnold to name 2). This song was covered in 1979 by Texas country/pop/rock band Toby Beau for their second album More Than A Love Song and it became a huge hit in the Philippines. Sadly, their popular lead vocalist Gene Hughes came to be with the Lord last 2008 at the age of 67 due to complications from a car accident. i had an import copy of this on that very same red fraternity label, " if it dont work out " great little track from the late 60s i always thought they were a black soul band ? i got that wrong ? very soulful for white guys nice one !

I've heard many versions of this pop-country standard, but this, bar none, is the definitive version of this great song. And as far as I'm concerned, it's the one to beat. Modern pop singers don't have the class it takes to sing this song.

Tom Dooley of Louisville based show band "Tom Dooley and the Lovelights" supposedly was playing with the Casinos in 1967 when this record was recorded. After he left the band, the Casinos backed Tom up on his first recording (Have A Happy, Happy Time). If you listen to Tom's recording, you can tell the band sounds like the Casinos. If you don't know who Tom Dooley and the Lovelights are, you missed out on a great "live"band back in the late 60's.
