"Please Mr. Postman" was the debut single by The Marvelettes for the Tamla (Motown) label, notable as the first Motown song to reach the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. The single achieved this position in late 1961; it hit number-one on the R&B chart as well. "Please Mr. Postman" became a number-one hit again in early 1975, when The Carpenters' cover of the song also reached the top position of the Billboard Hot 100.

@Msemospongebob The Carpenters didn't write the song. "Mr Postman" was written by some composers and writers of the Tamla label for The Marvelettes. :)13 years ago

@EscapeThisNightmare It is Lennon singing. Check the "live"/lip synched versions of "Mr Postman" by The Beatles on Youtube (there are at least two from the same show). It's indeed John who's singing (or pretending to sing, in that case). Also check the "Please Mr. Postman" article on Wikipedia. I know Wikipedia is not great, but here, it confirms it's Lennon who sang the song. No animosity, btw. :)13 years ago

@manningfan512 And The Beatles' fans can be real pains down there and should only listen to Beatles' versions since, according to them, they always do everything better ! Now, I don't like The Beatles and I don't go and post about my dislike on Beatles' vids. So childish. And, btw, there's 100 times more soul in Karen's voice than in Lennon's - who was a very poor singer.14 years ago
