The lovely Karen Carpenter sings "Close To You" live in 1974 from Budokan, Japan. The song was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David and was their first huge song hit that the Caprpenters covered way back in the fall of 1970. Karen and Richard were definitely the 'sensation' of the seventies and why not? Karen's beautiful vocals were and still are a joy to listen to.

Her voice was stunning. It equates to Nat King Cole. A beautiful, rich quality that could never be duplicated. No need to over sing like we see on American Idol or with today's pop stars. Her voice just came out that way and was not created or modified. Thank you for posting! It is so sad that she was only with us a short time.

its terrible that she died,...she had a voice,...in my apion, the most pleasant sweetest  singing in history...she wasn't around very long but left the best pop music in history always in my heart.
