A lovely one recorded during the "Mr. Tambourine Man" LP sessions, but not included on the LP.

Great song! Should have been on the LP IMO. The original lineup had a much better distinctive sound and Gene was so essential to that.

Thanks for posting. I don't think this version was up before. Lovely one from the early Byrds.

Gene Clark was much more important to the Byrds' early sound than most realize. Great tune.

The pleasure's mine, but thanks for your comments and thoughts. Glad that that others love this one, too. I know what you mean about the energy in the early takes, even if it's not as refined. I uploaded this from my Dad's collection. He was a massive fan of The Byrds, and had me listening to their stuff (and other great music) before I could walk or talk. Cheers.

My heartfelt thanks. This is my favorite Byrd song. Do not know exactly why. Just triggers something in my inner being. Commercial version is fabulous but this lesser known rendition is so much better in my estimation . Many commercial releases lack the energy vitality and sheer fun of outtakes and practice test versions. Same with my top favs The Beatles. This sure sends me into truly happy land. Thanks again. It it was on vinyl it would be worn out by now. Bless. Peace.

Thanks very much for the tip! I'll definitely be picking-up a copy of the Mr. Tambourine Man reissue.
