Lip synched performance from the Swedish TV show, "Drop In".

Included here is David Crosby's "Bratty" intro; you can tell Chris Hillman is quite livid here, by the looks he flashes Crosby during the song!!

I'm wondering if there was some "Payola" here, as the camera is on David almost the whole time.

Also note that Roger didn't even bother to pull out a guitar pick for this performance.

There must've been money in his family because, while living in Santa Barbara, Crosby attended all "the right schools," graduating from The Cate School in Carp.

I'm not sure why after nearly 30 years of listening to rock music, I've just now become a Byrds fan. This live recording is simply amazing.

For me this was the beginning of Rock and Roll played on a jukebox in St. Louis, Missouri. I was hooked!

From what I understand, Crosby wasn't on anyone's good side in that group, which is why he ended up being booted. Of course, gene "Uncle Cherokee" Clark and Roger McGuinn had their moments of temperament as well, just as Roger's ex wife

On this day in 1965 {May 11th} the Byrds made their national TV debut and performed this song on NBC's "Hullabaloo"... Four days later on May 15th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it peaked at #1 {for 1 week} and spent 13 weeks in the Top 100... And on July 22nd it reached #1 {for 2 weeks} on the United Kingdom's Singles chart... "Hullabaloo" aired for 20 months; from January 12th, 1965 through August 29th, 1966... *** "In the jingle, jangle morning!" ***

@ehairgrove You mean he's an actual mortal? News to me... I went to one of his acoustic shows this summer and he signed my '65 P bass. I'd say he's mellowed with age since 1970--a totally nice guy, with a very sharp wit.

@nhoner Just to set the record straight, Hillman could be quite crabby. i saw him perform with the Burrito Bros. at the La Paloma in San Diego-maybe1970? People weren't dancing to the music, so he berated us like red headed step children. He then batted his mic. with his guitar. We still didn't dance, so he paid us back by playing his music heavy metal style. He then screamed at us an said, "We play folk music not this SHIT!" -----I'm just sayin', However, I still love the Byrds. . .and Chris.

Notice Gene Clark isn't in this. He hated flying and sometimes refused to go along when they had to fly. Maybe one of the reasons for his later departure from the band.
