"Mark 3.7" imitating "Original 5"!!

ULTRA-RARE TV performance from the "Memphis Talent Party".

Roger is either trying to half re-capture his 1965 glory days, AND/OR make a mockery of it!

He even does his "Ed Sullivan head bob". :-)

The look on Clarence White's face says it all. :-)

"Jesus Is Just Alright" follows.

Both songs lip synched, obviously. :-)

Ironic that the initials on the Bass Drum head are "T.P."!!

Enjoy.

i'm old and slow but no one has ever been able to explaine this song to me. any one out there feel free. also i would love to have Roger just sit on my sofa and play that Guitar for about an hour, will never get over the sound of it.

Given Roger's sly smile looking over the sunglasses, and the way he makes a point of removing them, I would say he is deffeatly making fun - maybe of the then public perception of himself, or better yet - the producers of the show, as to having them sing an "oldie" in order to play something new...

I love this song ! I have always associate it with the "American Revolution" in the 60's. The anti-Viet-Nam protests, the Hippies and the Hara Krishna, the protests in campus, all the things the youth tried do --perhaps naively -- to influence change in the direction our country was going then. Certain tunes can mark or symbolize an Era.

this is an insult to the original members. They are the voices we are hearing in the first song, not these other guys.

@bren1231001 I agree with bren; besides at this time, Dylan was trying very hard to make his migration to a more electric sound but with little success. It was due to bands such as The Byrds covering his songs, that allowed Dylan to crossover into electric folk territory while still maintaining maintstream, popular appeal in his music (see Covach, 2006).
