--Original AM Radio Version-- From Chicago, The Buckinghams Were All Over The Radio In 1967 With Their Smash Hit "Kind Of A Drag". Recorded At The Chess Records Recording Studio In Downtown Chicago, The LP Featured A Nice Variety Of garage Band Sounding Tunes. At The Time, Most Every Teen Band Wanted To Sound Or Look Like The Beatles. The Buckinghams Were No Exception....And Took The Giant Leap To Record A Lennon-McCartney Composition. Although It Sounds Much Different Than The Beatles Version With It's Horns And Mandolin Sounding Riff In The Middle, It Is A Very Cool Interpretation Of This Classic Fab Four Tune. The Song Was Released As The "B" Side Of The Buckingham's Hit Called "Lawdy Miss Clawdy".

Way back when I was a really big fan of the Buckinghams. Still think they are great.

Their first national hit (as far as I can tell). Reached #104 in Record World, July-August 1966.

Lead singer is Dennis Tufano. He tours as a solo artist now, many times with Sonny Geraci of the Outsiders. He sings all the Buckingham's hits and still sounds great!

Sounds much brighter than the folk-rock Mamas & Papas cover.
