I came here because I started finding bands I liked on their label, this was the most established band under Lil' Chief so I thought I would check them out and honestly I find it mediocre. As far as people who say rap/hip hop has no meaning have not heard of artists like Del tha Funky Homosapien, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Lord Quas, etc. Taste doesn't need to be objective though, if people dig this then that's awesome because if it wasn't for their success this label may not exist.

In my experience, people who would love this but purposely hate anything for being on the radio are teenagers. They are too embarrassed and cool to listen to something popular and want music to be a unique reflection of themselves and don't want to attach to something that defines a large group of people. Once you reach a certain age you get over it and like music that you like whether it's popular or not.

Alot of Rappers play there own instruments. Kid Cudi, Childish Gambino, Shawn Chrystopher, B.o.B., and Kanye West are all at least multi-instrumentalists. Even Lil' Wayne (who is a shit musician nonetheless)can play Guitar and Piano and will do it in some of his songs.

They play their own instruments; therefore, making it "actual" music. Just the main idea of separation(between the 2 genres) to me. Well put, none the less.

you're putting too much thought into something that is so simple, it's all opinion. I could say something completely sucks while somebody else loves it. And of course if rap isn't what they normally gravitate to then of course they are gonna say that..I'm not a rap lover by any means, but I can't say I haven't heard some good rap tunes.And i can't say I loved every song in my genres of preference.

@HARDC0RY503 It really has to do with actual musical talent. Most music is aesthetic, but why would you listen to samples and drum machine music made by producers in a studio when you have people playing actual instruments as a band, writing and creating their own music.

this is the same "alternative" seattle scene label from the 90's ... wtf !?!?! this is the music they made a living absolutely castigating back in the day ... i mean you understand the irony here right? taking a shit on this kind of stuff in the late 80s and early 90s was absolutely their bread and butter ... it was how they made their money and made a name for themselves. this isnt subpop ... its. just. ... pop. it may be independently made, but its pop nevertheless ...
