there is a 7/8 measure and a 4/4 measure before the solos. peter plays them correctly. i don't know why michael looks back. but it's not because peter messed up. bass line also plays the 7/8 4/4 pattern correctly.

I think I understand what flamencobunche is talking about: the measure gets broken right when Brecker's solo starts up. Count "1, 2, 3, 4" through the 10 or so seconds leading up to the solo and you'll see that you have to break and restart your counting when it starts. It's presumably a mistake (other versions of the tune I heard stay in time throughout).

Michael Brecker would actually walk into studios to take lessons with people who were probably just honoured to be in his presence. He wasn't an ego head. He played music because he loved to play.
