Ordinarily I would agree with you... but in this case it isn't the use of instruments that gives it ska qualities (ex. Save Ferris- TRUMPETS!!!!). Hmm - I'm not so sure that's an accurate description either. But if that's the genre they're considered it'd be b/c of the ska-style (the upbeat swing-elements especially in Bass...). Grr. I can hear it better than I can describe it. - Totally agree w you though- dude needs to chill.
