there's something very dreamy and surreal about this one. makes me think of my mom and dad, courting in '32 in the depression days and nights.

oh, what a pop masterpiece! don Redmond had a singer, first name Harlan (lattimore?) who sounded much like bing of the early 30's.

I had this on a 12" Brunswick disc, including the Mills Brothers. This is an edited version on 10".

What can I say? It's one of those musical gems who are hard to find these days, everything is perfect...arrangement, singers (superb timing and balance) and orchestra...Grtz, Aad

Lawd, there's a lot to be thankful for here! Outstanding arrangements and execution thereof by the musucians, timing and tempos superb, the 'Crosby Cry' and the Boswell Belltones, the phrasing and blending of the vocals! This is one of those performances that if you listen to it closely 100 times you will find something new and intriguing each and every time.......the subtleties are amazing! Even to the ending with a soulful mournful yet pious blend of Connie,Vet,Martha and Bing.....Smooth!

@aadjuijn I agree indeed! This record is just FANTASTIC! Mine is from the same session but a different take there is a number of differences that can be noted, All tho sounding somewhat the same as this Bing gives about the same performance but the music before Connie`s solo is notably different and Connie`s solo as well as her sisters performance is somewhat different. When I get into posting, I`ll put mine on for You. Thank You so much for Your kind reply.

Also, I believe the Boswell Sisters made their radio debut in their hometown of New Orleans, and later went west where they had a regular show of their own every day in 1930 on station KFWB in Hollywood-Los Angeles. As for the 1934-1935 series Bing and the Boswells did on CBS, I think there is a CD of at least one broadcast out there for sale, but it doesn't have much of the Boswells on it, from what I've read about the recording.

@keca1430 Thank you for this additional information, Bing and the Boswells...great performers in a great song!

Love the photo of Bing and the Boswells with the KHJ microphone. Bing did a weekly radio show in 1934 for Woodbury Soap, and the Boswell Sisters were regulars. The program originated at the studios of KHJ radio in Los Angeles at 7th and Bixell Streets in the Don Lee Cadillac Building. The program was heard nationwide over the CBS radio network.

Don Redman also did the arrangements for Fletcher Henderson's orchestra in the mid-1920's. A great musician and an unsung hero.

@everybodylovesmybaby Don Redman was proficient on all wind instruments ranging from trumpet to oboe (as well as piano), a very musical man!

Don Redman on flute, Martha Boswell on piano.
