holy shit, this is now my favorite performance by the rats. definitely. i actually preferred bob dancing to lip sync videos but he is still a more than excellent singer and such a goofy dude

Search for "joey's on the street 1978" and you'll see the 1978 Hammersmith Odeon "ultimate" version of this song, I posted.

I live in Frankfurt, Germany. I knew Dave here as an excellent keyboard player. He was a good mate of mine. Lovely man and a great musician. God bless!!

Sadly, this is indeed a fairly crap performance of a truly brilliant song. I read an interview with Gerry Cott (who you'll notice is not in this later Rats iteration) and he said he left because they lost their way musically. I have to agree. They were so good though, but for a short while. If you want to see a really good version of this song, get the live DVD of the Rats live at Hammersmith Odeon in 1978. THAT version is bad-ass! God, this one is dreadful...

Anyone know who played sax with them back then? Great player. I LOVE these early songs and it's great to see them live. I disagree that it's an awful performance. A little rushed, but otherwise spot on. But damn, that hat's gotta go! ; )
