Yes, I distinctly remember most of their audience fucking off to see The Prodigy on the NME Stage (who were brilliant) - not that either Eavis or Gallagher will ever admit it!

I still go to glastonbury - although nowadays I work in the recycling crew the people I used to go with now stay at home and watch the highlights on TV - they actually think I'm sad that at 38 I still go! I also am too tight fisted to pay the £208 + for a ticket - but that's another issue.1995 was the best year for line-up apart from Oasis who were as fucking atrocious as I suspected...

As far as I'm concerned, getting older just means I can remember a longer period of time. :) Being something of a geeky misfit, I wasn't down with the kids even when I was a kid, so I don't bother. Despite a lot of dross around at the moment, I've heard a few guitar bands recently that have me quite excited for the first time in ages.

(ouch that hurt!) all is not lost: I turn my hearing aid in the direction of 6 music and still pretend to be "down" with the kids!

too true - I've checked the reading festival archive - there were loads of great bands in 1994.This of course is in complete contrast to this years festival where I recognise about 4 bands from the line-up!

Of course, but as I said - there was no way of getting out of those exams! I did get to go to Reading later that summer, which also had an awesome line-up.

looking back do you have any regrets in not going - the line-up for that year was incredible...

@gatogreensleeves It's only out of tune on the first verse (he switches to a guitar with black pickups and a picture of Ringo in time for the 2nd chorus) - doesn't matter though because the performance is fucking incendiary. I had to miss Glasto that year because school had seen fit to have our end of year exams that week - I taped C4 but also watched on the little telly in my bedroom Friday night and was completely floored by the song and the band - bought the album ASAP.

Shivers down the spine every time! Giant Steps has to be one of the best albums ever. Have always loved the dub intro with feeding back guitar on Lazarus. I'm off to find my cassette with their Radio 1 sound city 94 set. Touchdown Jesus and Butterfly McQueen stick in my memory as being outstanding.

No f'in way! So much Boo's love on 'ere! Also met Mr. Martin Carr a few times. Gave him a picture I took of the Verve at Glasto 95 w/RA in full arms out Christ like pose, this was May 97 when they opened for Better than ezra in houstoned tx rite when BSS was about to drop; met him after the show, smoked him out while Martin attempted to sum up the song for me. Anyways totally underrated, dont think they'll ever get back together. From what I could tell they hated being popstars BOO FOREVER!
