Trust me, Michael Brown clearly over powers any other person writing style on this album!

In hindsight, knowing the songs that Gary West (Gary Hodgden) went on to write, you can tell he definitely put his stamp on this one. Did he write or co-write it?? This could have easily become a Shooting Star song (as did Whole World's Watching)... Great tune!!

Wow, I've never heard of this band and this is my era.

@giacblanc you are right, I've changed my tune on the rest of the band. Strangers on a Train is very good, the first 5 or 6 songs are all high quality. And yes, the song you mentioned is awful.

They wrote 'Strangers on a Train' a great album if you overlook the horrrible cover and "Queen of Paradise" a good disco tune that shouldn't be on album and which they didn't write, but was probably why they got $100.000 to record.

@giacblanc The rest of the Left Banke couldn't write a good song to save their lives. Michael Brown was everything.

What a marvellous tune - proof if any were needed that the mid-70s had much more going for them than loon pants, outsize beards and endless keyboard solos. Michael Brown evidently carried his gift for creating indelible melodies to every project in which he was involved. I'm familiar with the Left Banke, Montage and bits of Stories, but I've yet to come across a copy of this album anywhere.

Money for album provided by Scotti Bros Las Vegas w/hit disco single would have worked fine if released with antoher group name. Lerfte Banke'r would not go to disco and vice versa; with hit lefte banke could do their pop verion.they'd have had control of a sepatate album abscence of Michael Brown; allows the other to showcace their writing skills and hopefully form a touring band. Worst cover I've ever seen and the back was horrible too. follow the money Scotti bros. Montreal//Lv

What an unbelievable song. I cannot believe this wasn't a monster hit. If it was featured in a movie or covered by the right band this song could have new life.

Not so, "Stragers on a Train'"made with 100,000 advance to record a disco single which is great, but shouldn' on .They wrote all songs. Great songs and truly heartfelt. Something Michael could never do no matter how many times he tried to replicateSteve (Esteban) Martin's( Marti'n's) voice without the soul and emotion. MB and SM did collaborate on some rocking singles for the X-rated film "Hot Parts"

I think its better than the Stories The only song of the Stories I really like is "Nice to have you here" - doesn't have the magic of the LB, in my humble o..

Terrible "Queen of paradise" the single - man thats bad! I think "Hold on tight" (the first track on that) is the only good song on it, and thats just cos of the piano on the fade! I think Mike was in on that at the start but went a little crazy. It seems the only motivator for Strangers was the money.. Fran is the best song on the Beckies album - shame it hasn't even been bootlegged - good luck finding the Sire release! Good album
