Originally released off of the White Album, this is a bootleg version recorded at George's home in the late 1960s. Love them or hate them, this is a new way to experience their music.

John didnt like SOME of Pauls songs. Others he praised. He didnt like this song and others like it because he felt it had no substance, it was about 'boring people doing boring things' and he knew Paul could do better. Lennon is on record of having said a great many of Pauls songs were amazing. He was more harsh on his own work which he really never considered to be good, even though Paul and the other Beatles and most of the world did. They had a complex relationship, but to say that John had no appreciation of Pauls work is not true. John felt and said that when Eppy died they were done. He was right. Many people are not aware they were on good terms when John died. In 1974 John was going to play on the Venus and Mars album, until Yoko got wind of it and put a stop to it. This is not Yoko bashing, it is well documented. And dont hate Yoko, John chose to not go ahead with it.

I think this one was too whimsical for John's taste. I think John was jealous of Paul's ability to churn out hits like nothing during the bands last years (John just had two a-sides after -67). Paul had a more stable personality than John, no doubt.. For the record, i like this song. Even though i prefer John's Beatle stuff more than Paul's, there is no denying that Paul was the creative driving force behind the Beatles during the groups last years.

Oh dear you seem to be devoid of a personality so I'll just leave you alone.

And how do you know exactly? Lennon was so obsessed with Paul after he left the Beatles he thought everything Paul wrote was about him. It is common knowledge that Paul was a much more stable person than John was because of the family upbringing. It would be safe to assume that the theme of this tune (happy family, happy with their lot in life and an up beat tempo) made Lennon green with envy, because of his unhappy childhood. This theme was alien to Lennon hence the envy and hatred.

I think Lennons hatred of any of Pauls songs is born out of jealousy,

Sure it's whimsical, but I love it. :) This (and the Anthology version) is actually better than the official version IMO.

I love how care free and whimsical this is...and I don't care that John hated it either. Every now and then you need to just be silly. That said, the chord progression in this song is marvelous. I love how he mirrored the melody with chords and would contrast by going down with chords and up with his voice. I miss good music coming out.
